Welcome, Riverhawk Athletes!

Athletics provide students with an opportunity to develop teamwork, discipline, leadership, sportsmanship, confidence, and school spirit while representing Jackman Middle School.

We encourage students to get involved, stay active, support their teammates, and strive for success both on the field and in the classroom.

🎓 Student-Athlete Eligibility

Being a Riverhawk student-athlete means being successful both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Students participating in EGUSD competitive athletics must meet district eligibility requirements.

📚 Academic Eligibility

Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA in their 7th- and 8th-grade coursework to remain eligible for competition.

Students must also meet the district's requirements for grades of record and grades of progress. Current EGUSD guidance also addresses failing grades during the school year.

🤝 Citizenship

Student-athletes are expected to demonstrate satisfactory citizenship and follow school and district expectations.

🕐 Attendance

Students must maintain a satisfactory attendance record as defined by EGUSD Board Policy.

📝 2026–2027 Athletic Clearance

Students who wish to participate in a competitive sport at Jackman Middle School must complete the EGUSD online Athletic Clearance process before participating.

Students may not try out, practice, or compete until they have been cleared.

Before participating, students must:

Complete the 2026–2027 online Athletic Clearance
Submit a valid 2026–2027 Sports Physical
Have the physical completed by an MD, DO, PA, or NP
Make sure the physical is dated May 31, 2026 or later
Complete the clearance process at least one day before tryouts, practice, or competition

A new Athletic Clearance is required each academic year, even if a student participated in athletics during the previous school year.

🚨 Want to Play Sports?

Don't wait until tryouts!

Before your student can try out, practice, or compete, they must have a completed 2026–2027 Athletic Clearance and a valid sports physical on file.

Physicals must be dated May 31, 2026 or later.

🏫 Practices & Competitions

Jackman athletic teams practice at Samuel Jackman Middle School and compete against other middle school teams within the Elk Grove Unified School District.

Some competitions will take place at other schools or off-site locations.

🚗 Transportation

Transportation to off-site games and competitions is the responsibility of parents/guardians unless otherwise communicated by the school or district.

All student-athletes must be picked up promptly following practices and competitions.

🤝 Representing Jackman

Being part of a Jackman athletic team is a privilege.

Our student-athletes are expected to:

Demonstrate good sportsmanship
Respect teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, and staff
Represent Jackman positively
Maintain academic eligibility
Follow school and district rules
Give their best effort
Support their teammates
